Last Friday, 26th January, the corridors of St Benild School, Sliema were buzzing with activity. Games and activities related to the life of St Benild were organised to commemorate the feast of St. Benild which officially falls on the 29th January.
The boys also received a souvenir bookmark, draw-string bag and a healthy oat and banana muffin instead of a hot dog or chocolate pancake as in previous years. The school staff, together with parents, are adopting healthier food options for school fundraising days and activities as they strive to bring about a culture change in the school environment. They are modelling healthy habits with the aim of educating on the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Water consumption during the school day is also encouraged by the staff.
That sure was a Happy St Benild’s Day with a difference!
St. Benild’s School together with Stella Maris College Junior School is participating in our project entitled “Targeting Obesity as a National Disability through a Community Pharmacist Driven Approach”.
