Why do you need testing?
To assess the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and to monitor treatment.
When to get tested?
When no risk factors present:
- Adults: every four to six years
- Youths: Once between the ages of 9 and 11 and again between the ages 17 and 21
When risk factors are present: at regular intervals.
What is the sample required?
A small blood sample from a finger prick is needed.
How can one prepare for the test?
Fasting for 9-12 hours (water only) before blood collection is required.

A lipid profile typically includes:
